Role overview

Fintech company based out of London, using Clojure and Clojurescript to automate complex legal and real-time decision systems.

What our Knowledge Engineers do:

Knowledge engineers are responsible for the design and delivery of critical solutions for our clients and they participate in the development of new product lines. You can expect highly challenging and intellectually stimulating work that leads to solutions for some of the world's leading financial institutions.

Here are just some examples of what we do:

  • Transforming law into structured data models and computational representations
  • Collaborating with Software Engineers to research and design new product lines
  • Performing intelligent analysis around reference data sources that are used to drive key client decisions
  • Interacting with clients to understand emerging needs and identify opportunities for new products

What we're looking for:

  • Strong academic background in a technical field
  • A high degree of curiosity with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and solve challenging problems through abstraction and modeling
  • Experience in independent research
  • A strong interest in law, technology, finance and/or automated decision systems
  • The capacity to envision a variety of solutions and to clearly articulate them and explain the trade-offs
  • A collaborative mind-set and commitment to knowledge sharing
  • A willingness to give and receive feedback with the aim of achieving optimal results
  • Programming experience (especially in a functional language) is a big plus

Technical Requirements

  • Solid experience with a programming language e.g. Java, Python, Clojure
  • Enthusiastic about functional programming

Highly Desirable

  • Experience programming Clojure or ClojureScript or another Lisp
  • Experience using a RDBMS such as Postgres
  • Experience building React applications and RESTful APIs
  • Experience in formal verification – for example Coq
