    Role overview

    As a Software Engineer Manager at IO Global, you are responsible for leading a technology team to deliver high-quality, innovative software that advances the state of the art for cryptocurrency. You will develop your own understanding of emerging technologies as you guide your team to maximize their value delivery in this evolving space. Only a happy and motivated team can drive the industry forward, and you will be given the opportunity to develop your team’s capacity by developing the individuals you lead.

    You will operate as part of a leadership team that spans product, architecture, QA, DevOps, formal methods, and delivery. Your focus will be the success of your team, which you will ensure by knowing and developing them as individuals, hiring as needed, and working with product/project management and the architects to define achievable and meaningful goals and milestones.

    Your mission

    • Work with Product Leadership to build a technical strategy for the product and prioritize it accordingly on the product roadmap
    • Define working processes for the engineering teams and the QAs to achieve the best team collaboration
    • Perform technical exploration, experimentation, and evaluation around our current technology choices to deliver guidance and technology consolidation
    • Own, maintain, and drive adoption of standards, patterns, and processes and ensure our approach is centered on customer value
    • Propose and negotiate the project requirements
    • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing best practices and performing code reviews for the software development team
    • Identify, define, and solve strategic problems, and think holistically about the whole system/project
    • Always exercise user empathy, whether the users are internal or external
    • Commit to implementing quality improvement techniques
    • Clearly articulate new issues and suggest changes to management for implementation
    • Demonstrate dedication to team collaboration by maintaining regular weekly/monthly meetings
    • Provide detailed guidance on the work to be done, assist with task assignments, and deliver deep reviews and feedback on the work
    • Share company strategies and priorities with the right context
    • Build credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders
    • Be responsible for the health, happiness, and productivity of the team
    • Support team growth by supporting multiple reports in their personal growth, giving them opportunities to train and develop
    • Guide and mentor less experienced team members
    • Support personal and professional development
    • Review compensation and support career advancement
    • Manage onboarding and off-boarding
    • Manage transitions between teams
    • Address underperformance early, plan and act decisively
    • Help the team align career goals with the company’s strategy.

    Requirements

    Your expertise

    • 5+ years of experience in engineering team management
    • 3+ years of practicing agile methodologies
    • Impeccable verbal and written communication
    • Exceptional leadership and track record of delivery
    • Open-minded and horizontal team management
    • Ability to define, negotiate, and execute on a roadmap
    • Ability to design highly effective processes and animate a team of experts
    • Highly autonomous and self-driven
    • Disciplined remote worker.
