The Supplier Promotions team is driving overarching strategies to innovate, enhance and improve our discounts

Role overview

Who We Are

Do you want to take part in shaping the promotional landscape for a leading global e-commerce company? Wayfair Europe’s Promotions Team is looking for a new team member to take charge of securing the best deals for our customers during promotional periods.

More specifically the Supplier Promotions team is driving overarching strategies to innovate, enhance and improve our discount sourcing engines across the millions of products on site. All with the goal of ensuring the best shopping experience for our customers and supporting our supplier partners’ growth during our major promotions (e.g. Cyber 5 and Way Day). To achieve that, we use heavy analytics to identify new opportunities to challenge and optimize our engines and collaborate with various teams (from Brand Experience, Category Management, Pricing and even Engineering and BI) to make sure all our team’s initiatives convert into value to our business and customers.

What You’ll Do

As Senior Analyst, you will shape Wayfair’s efficiency. You will support the creation of our promotional targets for negotiation with thousands of our supplier partners, and help further improve the tools with which we conduct those negotiations. Ultimately, this means you’d be optimizing our discount sourcing module to millions of products available on our websites, and thus have a direct impact on our customer shopping experience and how competitive we are:

  • You will work on identifying, measuring, and tracking new discount sourcing opportunities, in close alignment with our North American counterparts:
  • Globalize our discount sourcing engines
  • Plan and execute discount sourcing strategies for our biggest major promotions across multiple teams
  • Drive official supplier promotional communications
  • You will develop and maintain dashboards that will help you orchestrate strategies across multiple teams and inform hundreds of Category Managers globally on their supplier partners’ engagement.
  • You will continuously look for ways of improving and automating our solutions, lessening the manual workload on our stakeholders

What you’ll need

  • Ideally Master’s degree from a top-tier institution and a strong academic record in a relevant field (e.g. business, economics, math, statistics, engineering, natural sciences)
  • 2–3 years of experience in an analytical role. Client-facing work is a plus (for example, in consulting, start-ups, technology, banking, or strategy)
  • High motivation and interest in driving commercial topics across many stakeholders in the business while enjoying working with data and being able to distill complex data into strategic actions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills: Advanced Excel skills required, at least basic SQL or GBQ knowledge ideal. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. R, Python) is a plus
  • Knowledge of data visualization or business intelligence software is a plus (e.g. Google Data Studio, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Great attention to detail and pride in producing consistently high quality work
  • Extremely collaborative and effective in a cross-functional and dynamic environment, ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills. You need to be able to translate complex technical information into simple, palpable concepts
  • Fluent in English (German, Italian, French or Polish are a plus!)
  • Positive, energetic attitude with a can-do mentality

What we offer

Of course, the usual competitive salary, bonus, office snacks and drinks, and Friday evening beers, but also …

  • … a high-caliber, multinational team right in the startup hub of Berlin, in Alexanderplatz
  • … genuine interest in our employees, strong career path guidance and mentoring
  • … a vibrant work culture and great work-life balance
  • … a chance to be at the cutting edge of e-commerce technology and processes
  • … a contribution to your gym membership and office sport events and other perks
  • … and let’s not forget: the chance to join the next global giant in eCommerce (as of January 2021, we were already ranked at #348 in Fortune 500, but only getting started!)

Location

Berlin is the capital and the largest city in Germany and well-known for its amazing festivals, exciting nightlife and a high quality of living. With a population of 3.7 million it is only second to London in the Europe Union, even with one-third of the city's area being composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers, canals and lakes. Berlin is a city with a deep history, Bismarck, Marx, Einstein, JFK and Bowie, they’ve all shaped – and been shaped by – Berlin.

Often referred to as Europe's newest start-up capital, a new start-up is founded every 20 minutes. The startup industry is set to produce 100,000 new jobs by 2020.

It's no secret that Berlin is cheaper than many of its European counterparts. Office overheads and the price of living are cheaper, which makes it a very attractive place for tech entrepreneurs. Home to HelloFresh, Delivery Hero, and Soundcloud we expect many more household names to be coming out of Berlin in the next few years.

Did you know...

  • The average salary for a Software Engineer in Berlin is €58,765 per year
  • Berlin is the second most populous city in the EU
  • 250+

Wayfair is the destination for all things home and a place that helps everyone, anywhere, create their feeling of home. We are a truly global company and THE leader in all things home and e-commerce - we've come a long way since day 1 but as we see it, this is just the start of our journey! Fast Facts Founded in 2002 Active Customers +20M Products +18M Suppliers +12,000 Net Revenue 2019 $9.1B Employees 16,900 All of this success and growth would never have been possible without Wayfair's biggest assets, that being our fantastic people and the culture that our colleagues bring to the table. Wayfair Culture Overview Analytical by nature Strong sense of vision and purpose Collaborative Open culture Meetings take place in open areas and are inclusive, efficient and valuable Flat hierarchy Customer focused Low ego but very ambitious Move fast, and learn from mistakes Wayfair is setting its sights on some extremely ambitious (but attainable!) goals for the future and with this ambition comes the opportunity for you to grow with us into what will most definitely be an exciting journey!
